More than 53% of American men and women report that one or more of their close relatives has a problem with drinking.(1) Approximately nineteen million American children are exposed to familial alcoholism, alcohol abuse or both sometime before the age of 18 - that's one in four children.(2) Every 31 minutes, someone dies in America in an alcohol-related vehicle accident.(3)

Just as new research and grassroots action made bike helmets, children’s car seats and “no smoking” signs commonplace, so too can attitudes and social assumptions about drinking and drug misuse be changed to create a healthier environment for everyone.

KLJ Publishing, founded in 2008, intends to change these statistics by publishing books and materials that use 21st century brain and addiction-related research on substance abuse, alcoholism/drug addiction, and secondhand drinking/drugging.
